Onyx Cork Flooring

True to its name, Onyx brings deep, dark cork character in a thick 11 mm (7/16 in) Swiss-made floating plank rated for heavy commercial traffic.

Onyx is built for rooms that need drama underfoot without giving up the warmth cork is loved for. Each 913 mm x 305 mm (35-15/16 in x 12 in) plank carries a full 3 mm layer of real natural cork on top, finished with a HotCoating wear layer and a high resistant Natural Shield water based polyurethane. The square, unbevelled edges keep the surface reading as one continuous dark field rather than a grid of boards.

Under that cork surface sits a 6.8 mm E1 grade moisture resistant HDF core and a 1.2 mm agglomerated cork backing. That sandwich is why the floor feels solid when you walk on it yet stays quiet and gently cushioned: cork's air-filled cell structure absorbs impact, damps sound by 18 dB and keeps the surface comfortable in bare feet through a Canadian winter, because cork simply does not go cold the way hardwood or tile does.

The Uniclic click lock profile means planks snap together as a floating floor: no glue, no nails, and no special trades. Rated for above grade, on grade and below grade installation, and compatible with electric, hydronic and underfloor radiant heating, Onyx fits basements, main floors, offices and retail spaces alike. It carries a commercial class 33 rating (heavy duty use) alongside its domestic class 23 rating, backed by a 15 year residential and 5 year commercial warranty.

Why this floor

• Full 11 mm (7/16 in) total thickness with a genuine 3 mm natural cork top layer, not a thin veneer.

• Rated for below grade, on grade and above grade floors, and compatible with electric and hydronic radiant heat.
• Naturally insulating: thermal resistance of 0.108 m² K/W keeps the surface warm underfoot year round.
• Greenguard Gold certified with published ECO certification and formaldehyde test reporting, made in Switzerland from bark harvested without felling the cork oak (trees live up to 200 years and can be peeled about 20 times).
