Ashen Chestnut Cork Flooring

A light brown Swiss plank with a semi-matte wood emboss, built to commercial class 33 and quiet by 18 dB.

Ashen Chestnut wears a soft light brown tone with a wood-embossed, semi-matte surface, so it reads like timber underfoot while giving you everything cork does better: warmth, quiet, and give. Each plank is a generous 1235 mm x 200 mm (48 5/8 in x 7 7/8 in) at a substantial 11 mm (7/16 in) thick.

The construction is a true three-layer sandwich: a 3 mm cork top layer over a 6.8 mm E1 grade moisture-resistant HDF core, finished underneath with a 1.2 mm agglomerated cork backing that acts as a built-in underlay. The surface is sealed with HotCoating protection and a high-resistance Natural Shield water-based polyurethane finish, which is how a natural floor earns an AC5 abrasion rating.

Cork's honeycomb structure packs roughly 40 million air-filled cells into every cubic centimetre. That is what makes this floor permanently elastic, gentle on ankles, and warm enough for barefoot winters. It is bark, harvested without felling a single tree: cork oaks live up to 200 years and can be peeled up to 20 times.

Rated for on, above and below grade, compatible with hydronic and underfloor radiant heat, and made in Switzerland, it fits bedrooms and basements as readily as a busy storefront.

Can I install this over in-floor radiant heat?

Yes. Ashen Chestnut is compatible with hydronic and underfloor radiant heating systems.

Is it suitable for a basement?

Yes. It is rated for on, above and below grade installation. The core is 6.8 mm E1 grade moisture-resistant HDF, the Uniclic joints are watertight, and 24-hour swelling tests under EN 317 come in below 8%.

Will it stand up to pets and heavy traffic?
