Understanding Colour Variation in Cork Flooring
Cork is a natural material, and with it comes natural variation. Differences in colour, tone, and texture are a normal part of cork flooring and contribute to its distinctive, organic appearance.
Because cork is harvested from tree bark, each plank will display its own unique shade and grain pattern. Some pieces may appear slightly lighter or darker than others, even within the same product line.
Manufacturers work carefully to keep colours as consistent as possible, but complete uniformity cannot be achieved with natural materials. These subtle variations are expected and should be appreciated as part of cork’s character.
Please be aware:
-
Variation in colour and tone is normal in all cork flooring
-
No two planks will look exactly the same
-
These differences are not considered defects
Installation Guidelines
For the most balanced and attractive appearance:
-
Install flooring from several cartons at once
-
Mix and arrange planks to naturally blend colour differences
Selecting a More Consistent Look
If your project requires a very even, uniform colour, consider a printed (design) cork flooring, which offers a more consistent visual result.
