A dark floor with two personalities: moody in low light, dazzling with warm brown highlights when the light comes up.

Walnut Burlwood is the strong silent type. It reads as a dark cork floor, yet it carries so many warm brown highlights that it can stand in for a mid-tone. In full lighting the pattern comes alive, and the depth of the colour shifts with the room around it.

That mix of warm browns and cool undertones makes this floor an easy match for competing themes. Renovations are often a compromise between old and new, and when several wood tones have to live together, Walnut Burlwood offers a simple way to tie them in.

Each 900 mm x 300 mm (35 7/16 in x 11 13/16 in) plank is a full 12 mm (1/2 in) thick: a 3 mm natural cork top layer over a 6 mm E1 class high density fiberboard core, with a 3 mm cork underlay already attached. The planks click together with the Uniclic profile and float over the subfloor, above, on, or below grade.

Underfoot, the cork does what carpet and hardwood cannot do at once. It is warm, resilient and low-slip, which makes it a comfortable surface for seniors, children, and anyone dealing with arthritis or joint pain, and it quietly insulates the room against both noise and temperature swings.

• Impact noise reduction of 19 dB (ISO 140-8) and Impact Insulation Class IIC 55, tested on 140 mm (5.5 in) concrete without a suspended ceiling.
