Installation and Care Guide for Techslate Flooring
Installation and Care Guide for Techslate Flooring
Pre-Installation Requirements: Techslate is designed for floating installation over a clean, level, and robust substrate following DIN 18356 standards. Ensure that any unevenness in the subfloor does not exceed 2 mm per meter; otherwise, level it appropriately. Although typically installed as a floating floor, in areas where the load may exceed 1000 kg—such as under pallet trucks—additional gluing at the connections using D3 adhesive is advised.
Allow Techslate to acclimate within its packaging for 24 hours in a controlled environment, maintaining a temperature of 15-25°C and relative humidity of 40-60%. Ensure the subfloor meets moisture standards, with a maximum of 2.0 CM-% for cement and 0.5 CM-% for anhydrite subfloors. Techslate flooring is also suitable for both hot water and electric underfloor heating systems.
For installations in moist areas, it is crucial to seal joints using products such as “Clic Seal” or “Seal & Click” to shield against moisture damage. Each board should be inspected under daylight before installation to ensure no defects and that all tongues and grooves are clean.
Installation Techniques: Techslate can be installed using one of two methods: Angle Snap (version 1) or Angle to Angle (version 2).
-
Angle Snap (version 1): Begin in a corner, angling the long side of the plank approximately 10° before snapping it into place by pressing downwards. Use a tapping block on the front side to ensure the planks are securely joined.
-
Angle to Angle (version 2): Slightly lift the panel ends to about 10°, click them together, and ensure alignment. Continue with the layout directly from the first row, ensuring each subsequent start is at least 30 cm in length.
For cutting, use a hand circular saw with a blade appropriate for gypsum wall boards, or for simpler cuts, score with a utility knife and snap the panel along the line.
Post-Installation and Ongoing Care: Techslate flooring is easy to maintain, supporting both damp and wet cleaning methods, including automated brushing devices. After the initial clean, regular mopping is recommended. To minimize debris, place doormats or dirt-catching rugs in entryways and use felt pads under furniture legs to protect the flooring.
Additional Recommendations:
- A surface finish such as Loba 2K Supra A.T. can be applied immediately post-installation or years later to refresh the surface.
- Proper disposal of Techslate material should adhere to local environmental regulations.
Following these guidelines will ensure that your Techslate flooring is installed correctly and maintained effectively, ensuring durability and longevity.
