Approved Application Tools

  • Roller: High-quality microfiber roller only

  • Nap size: 8–12 mm (3/8”–1/2”)

  • No substitutes — incorrect rollers may cause lap marks, bubbles, or uneven sheen

Environmental & Site Conditions (Updated)

  • Temperature: 18–27 °C (65–80 °F)

  • Relative Humidity: 35–75% RH

  • HVAC systems must be fully operational before, during, and after application

Product must be:

  • Stored indoors

  • Protected from freezing

  • Acclimated to jobsite temperature before use

⚠️ Do not apply below 13 °C (55 °F)
⚠️ Always maintain adequate ventilation

Cork Installation Waiting Periods (Updated)

Glue-Down Cork Tiles

  • Allow adhesive to fully cure – minimum 24 hours

  • Follow the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions exactly

Floating Cork Flooring

  • Floor may be finished once installed

  • Recommended rest period: 24–72 hours

This rest period allows:

  • Identification of installation errors

  • Corrections before finishing

All installation issues must be resolved before coating.

Protect Product From Freezing

  • Approved storage range: 5–28 °C (42–85 °F)

  • Products exposed to freezing temperatures must not be used

Refinishing Existing Cork Floors (If Applicable)

This step applies only to cork floors that have been in service for several years.

  • Clean thoroughly using household-strength TSP (trisodium phosphate)

  • Rinse multiple times with clean water

  • Ensure no residue remains

  • Allow floor to dry completely before proceeding

Abrading Factory-Finished Cork (Updated Grit)

LOBA 2K Supra AT may be applied over factory-finished cork only when properly abraded.

  • Light abrasion only — do not remove the factory finish

  • Recommended abrasives:

    • 180–220 grit screen or perforated pad

    • Fine maroon pad (equivalent)

Objective:

  • Create micro-abrasion for adhesion

  • Leave no visible sanding marks

Always test on a spare plank or tile first.

Cleaning After Abrasion

  1. Vacuum thoroughly

  2. Damp-wipe using:

    • Clean microfiber mop

    • Water only (lightly damp, not wet)

  3. Allow 1–2 hours drying time before coating

Mixing Instructions (Updated & Current)

Pot Life

  • Approximately 2 hours after mixing

Full Container Mixing

  1. Shake base container thoroughly

  2. Add the entire hardener to the base

  3. Replace lid and shake vigorously for 60 seconds

  4. Product is ready for immediate use

Mixing Smaller Quantities

  • Use a scale or LOBA mixing container for accuracy

  • Shake mixed material for 60 seconds

  • Maintain a wet working edge

  • Do not re-roll areas older than 10 minutes

  • Avoid puddles, streaks, and over-working the finish

Coverage

  • 500–600 sq. ft. per gallon per coat

  • Actual coverage varies based on cork porosity

Number of Coats & Timing (Updated)

  • Maximum coats per day: 2

  • Time between coats: Minimum 2–3 hours

  • If drying is delayed, wait until the surface is completely dry before recoating

Drying, Traffic & Cure Times (Updated)

  • Light foot traffic (socks only): ~5 hours

  • Normal foot traffic: ~12 hours

  • Furniture placement: after 3 days

  • Full cure: 3 days

  • Active dogs: recommended after 5 days

🚫 No rugs, furniture, pets, or children during the curing period
Even if the floor appears dry, it may not be fully cured

First Damp Cleaning

  • Earliest: 5 days after final coat

  • Use:

    • Water only, or

    • pH-neutral hardwood floor cleaner

  • Do not wet-mop

Important Warnings

⚠️ Short working time
Water-based polyurethanes have an approximate 10-minute working edge.

If lap marks occur:

  • Stop application

  • Allow floor to dry

  • Contact your LOBA-WAKOL or flooring specialist before proceeding

⚠️ If the floor shows:

  • Buckling

  • Lipping

  • Separation

Do not apply finish. Investigate installation or moisture issues first.

Tool Cleaning

Clean all tools and equipment immediately after use with water.

Floor Care & Maintenance

  • Clean the floor with a damp cloth or mop only after full cure has been reached.

  • Do not clean with water or detergents during the first week after application.

  • After one week, routine maintenance may begin using Hardwood Floor Cleaner.

  • Install walk-off mats at all entrance doorways to reduce dirt and grit.

  • Sweep or vacuum daily.

  • Damp-wipe regularly using Hardwood Floor Cleaner.

  • Use felt pads under furniture legs and appliances.

  • Move furniture and heavy appliances carefully to avoid damage.

Plasticizer-Containing Materials

Materials that contain plasticizers—such as carpet padding, furniture pads, chair casters, elastic adhesives, and similar products—may cause softening or discoloration of the finish. Avoid prolonged contact with these materials.

Cure Time Considerations

All stated drying and curing times are based on ideal conditions:

  • 68°F (20°C)

  • 50% relative humidity

  • Recommended application rates

Factors that may significantly extend curing time include:

  • Insufficient ventilation

  • High humidity

  • Low temperatures

  • Excessive film thickness

Do not cover floors, reinstall carpets or rugs, or clean with a damp cloth or mop until the final cure is fully complete.

Intermediate Sanding

  • When applying multiple coats, successive coats may be applied within 24 hours without intermediate sanding.

  • If more than 24 hours pass between coats, intermediate sanding is required.

  • An intermediate sanding before the final coat is recommended to achieve a smoother surface.

  • Remove all sanding dust thoroughly before applying additional coats.

Final Note

LOBA 2K Supra AT is a professional, high-performance finish. Cork flooring is more porous and reactive than traditional hardwood, making correct timing, sanding grit, and climate control essential for successful results.

When in doubt, test first and contact LOBA-WAKOL Technical Service before proceeding.
