Must Read: LOBA 2K Supra AT

Read this before using LOBA 2K Supra AT so roller, mixing, room conditions, dry times, cure time, and floor protection are clear.

Use this page when

  • LOBA 2K Supra AT will be applied to cork flooring or cork tiles.
  • You need critical conditions before opening or mixing product.
  • You want to avoid roller marks, lap marks, cure problems, or finish failure.

Before you start

  • Confirm approved roller, mixing ratio, batch size, and working time.
  • Confirm room temperature, humidity, product storage, and ventilation.
  • Protect the floor from traffic, rugs, water, tape, and furniture until cure requirements are met.

Important

Detailed instructions

Important Application Instructions for Cork Flooring

Proper application of polyurethane is extremely important to achieve the best appearance, durability, and warranty protection for your cork flooring. Please read all instructions carefully before starting your project.

Use ONLY a high-quality microfiber roller with a low nap.

Recommended Roller Size:

  • 3/8” – 1/2” nap (8mm – 12mm)
  • Microfiber roller only
  • No substitutes

Using the wrong roller can create bubbles, streaks, lap marks, or uneven finish.

Maintain stable room conditions before, during, and after application.

Recommended Conditions:

  • Temperature: 18°C – 23°C (65°F – 73°F)
  • Humidity: 35% – 65%

All HVAC systems should be fully operational according to NWFA guidelines.

Both the flooring and polyurethane must acclimate to the room for 2–3 days before application.

Glue-Down Cork Tiles

Glue-down cork tiles must cure for a minimum of 24 hours before polyurethane is applied.

Floating Cork Flooring

Floating floors can be finished immediately after installation, but Forna strongly recommends allowing the floor to rest for 1–3 days before coating.

This resting period helps reveal any installation issues such as:

  • Movement
  • Separation
  • Lipping
  • Uneven joints

All installation issues must be corrected before polyurethane application.

LOBA and Wakol products must always be stored indoors.

Storage Temperature:

  • 5°C – 28°C (42°F – 85°F)

Never allow the product to freeze.

This step applies only to refinishing older floors that have been in use for several years.

Before refinishing:

  • Clean the floor using household-strength TSP (trisodium phosphate)
  • Rinse or damp mop multiple times to remove all cleaner residue
  • Allow the floor to dry completely before sanding or coating

Any remaining cleaner residue may affect polyurethane adhesion.

LOBA 2K Supra AT can be applied directly over the Forna factory finish.

To achieve the best results and maintain warranty coverage, the factory finish must be lightly abraded before coating.

Important:

The sanding should NOT:

  • Change the appearance
  • Remove color
  • Alter the stain or pattern of the cork

The purpose is only to create tiny micro-abrasions for proper adhesion.

Recommended Sandpaper:

  • 180–220 grit

Lightly sweep the sandpaper across the surface using minimal pressure.

Before sanding the full floor:

  • Test a small hidden area or scrap piece first
  • Ensure no visible scratches or marks appear

A very fine white dust is normal during proper abrasion.

After sanding:

  1. Vacuum thoroughly
  2. Damp wipe using a clean microfiber mop or cloth
  3. Use water only
  4. Allow floor to dry 1–2 hours before coating

Before mixing:

  • Shake both the large container and the hardener container separately for 60 seconds

Full Gallon or Full Liter Mixing

To mix a full kit:

  1. Pour the hardener into the larger finish container
  2. Shake combined contents thoroughly for 1 minute

The product is now activated and ready for use.

Important:

Once mixed, the polyurethane must be used within 2 hours.

For smaller projects, partial batches may be mixed.

Coverage Guide:

  • 1 gallon covers approximately 550–600 sq.ft.
  • 1 liter covers approximately 150 sq.ft.

Mixing Ratio:

  • 10 parts finish
  • 1 part hardener

Example:

For a 200 sq.ft. project:

  • Mix approximately 1/3 of the large container
  • With 1/3 of the hardener container

Mix thoroughly for 60 seconds before use.

When edging along walls or tight areas:

  • Use a smaller microfiber roller
  • Only edge small sections as you work

Do NOT edge the entire room first.

This helps prevent lap marks caused by partially dried polyurethane.

Best Method – Direct Pour

The preferred professional method is:

  1. Pour polyurethane directly onto the floor
  2. Saturate the roller fully
  3. Begin rolling immediately

This method helps maintain proper film thickness and reduces lap marks.

If using a tray:

  • Use only a new tray
  • Rinse with water first and allow it to dry

Important:

  • Saturate the roller fully
  • Roller should be wet but not dripping

Work quickly and maintain a wet edge at all times.

Water-based polyurethane dries very quickly.

Wet Working Time:

Approximately 10 minutes

Do NOT go back over areas older than 10 minutes.

Doing so may create visible lap marks that require sanding before recoating.

Maximum Coats Per Day:

  • 2 coats maximum

Time Between Coats:

  • 5 – 24 hours

Pot Life After Mixing:

  • 2 hours

Cleanup:

  • Soap and water while product is still wet

The floor may appear dry before it is fully cured.

During Cure Time:

NO:

  • Rugs
  • Furniture
  • Pets
  • Children

Light Use:

  • Stocking feet only after 5 hours

Full Cure:

  • 3 days minimum

Only light traffic in stocking feet is recommended during curing.

Always allow extra cure time if unsure.

Routine damp cleaning should NOT begin until:

  • Minimum 5 days after the second coat

Use only:

  • Water
  • pH-neutral hardwood floor cleaner

If You See Lap Marks:

STOP APPLICATION IMMEDIATELY.

Possible causes:

  • Working too slowly
  • Applying polyurethane too thin
  • Going back over partially dried areas

Allow the floor to dry and contact your Forna Flooring representative before continuing.

If your floor shows signs of:

  • Buckling
  • Separation
  • Lipping
  • Excessive movement

DO NOT apply polyurethane.

Contact your local Forna Flooring representative before proceeding
