Gray Cubes Cork Wall Tile

A sculpted, three-dimensional grey cork wall tile that quiets a room by up to 30 dB while turning the wall into the focal point.

Gray Cubes is a geometric, 3D textured wall tile cut from 100% natural cork bark and made in Italy. The face is a wash of cool greys, shifting from lighter to subtly darker shades, broken up by darker grey pits and divots. Each tile is handmade, so no two are alike: your wall will always be one of a kind.

The uneven cube relief is not just decorative. That classic staggered surface diffuses sound in every direction, cutting reverb, echo and reflection, which makes it a favourite for music rooms, offices and any space that is a little too noisy. The smooth backing keeps installation straightforward on both walls and ceilings.

Because it is cork, the tile also insulates thermally: it helps hold warmth in winter and keeps rooms cooler in summer, which can help reduce heating costs. And unlike wallpaper, cork is naturally resistant to pests, mould and mildew, and is hypo-allergenic, so it stays healthy to live with.

Each tile measures 240 mm x 800 mm (9 29/64 in x 31 1/2 in) at 10 mm (25/64 in) thick and covers 0.19 m² (2.07 sq. ft.). A carton of 20 tiles covers 3.84 m² (41.33 sq. ft.).

How do I install these tiles, and do I need a special adhesive?
Yes. Gray Cubes is a glue-down wall tile and requires Wakol D3540 Cork Adhesive. The smooth backing makes installation on a wall or ceiling easier, but the surface must be prepared first: follow the wall installation instructions, since improper surface preparation may void the warranty. Plan for about 10% extra material as overage.
Will this actually make my room quieter?
Yes. The tile absorbs an estimated 30 dB of noise (estimated Delta IIC rating), and the uneven 3D surface diffuses sound to reduce reverb, echo and reflection. It is an ideal acoustic wall tile for musicians' rooms and other noisy spaces.
Can I put it on the ceiling, or in a commercial space?
Both. Gray Cubes is rated for wall and ceiling installation, in residential and commercial applications.
Will every tile look the same?
No, and that is intentional. Each tile is handmade from 100% cork bark, so the mix of lighter and darker grey shading varies from tile to tile. Your finished wall will always be unique.
