Cocoa Tan Leather Flooring

Real leather underfoot: a warm cocoa-tan surface with the quiet, cushioned feel only a genuine hide can give.

Cocoa Tan is a Swiss-made floating plank with a genuine bonded leather wear surface in a rich, warm tan. Leather brings a depth of tone and a soft, tactile character that printed floors imitate but never match, and in this shade it reads as understated luxury: at home in a boutique, a hotel suite, or your own living room.

The leather itself is 100% natural and chrome-free, gathered from the off-cuts of European tanneries. Nothing is produced just to become a floor; material that would otherwise be waste is given a long second life as a durable surface.

Each 915 x 305 mm (36 x 12 in) plank builds that leather face onto a 6.8 mm E1 grade moisture-resistant HDF core and finishes with a 1.2 mm agglomerated cork backing. The cork layer cushions every step and cuts impact sound by 17 dB, while a high-resistance matte HotCoating finish shields the surface against scratches, stains, and chemicals. Uniclic click-lock edges mean the whole floor floats into place without glue.

  • Approved for every level of the home: below grade, on grade, and above grade, and compatible with electric and hydronic radiant heat.
  • Low static build-up (under 2 kV) and R9 slip resistance, with emissions tested according to AgBB.

  1. Confirm that the subfloor is clean, dry, level and structurally sound; use a moisture barrier where the linked guide requires one.
  2. Acclimate and inspect the material, mix planks from multiple cartons, and preserve every required perimeter and transition gap.
  3. Sweep or vacuum grit and clean with a well-wrung damp cloth or mop—never leave standing water on the floor.

Common questions

Can I install this over in-floor heating?
Yes. Cocoa Tan is compatible with electric, hydronic, and other underfloor heating systems, and its thermal resistance is a low 0.088 m² K/W, so heat passes through readily.
Is it suitable for a basement?
Yes. The plank is approved for below grade, on grade, and above grade installation, and its 6.8 mm HDF core is an E1 grade moisture-resistant board.
Will it stand up to pets and heavy foot traffic?
It is rated Commercial class 32 with AC4 abrasion behaviour, and the matte HotCoating finish resists scratches, stains, and chemicals. It also tolerates Type W chair casters and shows no visible damage from furniture leg shift (EN 424).
How does it install, and do I need glue?
No glue. The planks float on the subfloor using the Uniclic click-lock profile: each 915 x 305 mm plank clicks to the next, and a carton of 6 planks covers 18.08 sq ft. Order about 10% extra for cuts and waste.
