Sandstorm Cork Flooring

A natural-toned Swiss cork plank with a wood-embossed surface, an 18 dB quieter footstep, and a watertight Uniclic click lock. Sandstorm keeps cork in its natural colour: warm, sandy tones with the organic character of real cork bark, finished in a semi-matte wood emboss that reads calm rather than glossy. It is made in Switzerland from bark harvested off living cork oaks, so no tree is felled to produce it. Each 11 mm (7/16 in) plank is built in three layers: a 3 mm cork wear surface protected by HotCoating, a 6.8 mm E1 grade moisture-resistant HDF core, and a 1.2 mm agglomerated cork backing. That structure is what gives the floor its click-together stability and its built-in acoustic pad. Underfoot, cork's cell structure (roughly 40 million air-filled cells per cubic centimetre) insulates against cold and stays permanently elastic, so the floor feels gently cushioned and stays comfortable barefoot even in winter. It is easy on ankles and knees, and it knocks 18 dB off impact sound for the room below. Rated commercial class 33 and domestic class 23, Sandstorm is at home anywhere from bedrooms and basements to busy shops, and its floating installation goes down on, above, or below grade.

Why this floor

• Rated for heavy use: commercial class 33 and domestic class 23 (EN 16511), with AC5 abrasion resistance and a HotCoating surface protected by a high-resistance Natural Shield water-based polyurethane.
• 18 dB impact sound reduction (EN ISO 717-2) from the cork wear layer and 1.2 mm agglomerated cork backing: quiet for the room you are in and the room below.
• Watertight joints on a patented, licensed Uniclic click system that exceeds European locking standards, with HDF locking strength above 500 kg per linear metre (ISO 24334) and no open joints.
• Roughly 40 million cells per cubic centimetre give natural thermal insulation (thermal resistance 0.108 m² K/W) and a permanently elastic, warm feel underfoot.
• Moisture-resistant construction: E1 grade HDF core with 24-hour swelling under 8% (EN 317), approved for on, above, and below grade floors.
• Low-emission and healthy: emissions in conformity with AgBB, made in Switzerland from renewable cork bark harvested without felling a single tree.
