Seaside Cork Flooring
A Swiss-made 11mm cork floating plank that keeps rooms warm underfoot, cuts impact noise by 18 dB, and carries a heavy commercial class 33 rating. Seaside is built in Switzerland as a five-part sandwich: a 3mm natural cork wear surface, a HotCoating wear layer sealed with a high-resistance Natural Shield water-based polyurethane, a 6.8mm E1 grade moisture-resistant HDF core, and a 1.2mm agglomerated cork backing. At 11mm (7/16 inch) total thickness, each 913mm x 305mm (35-15/16 x 12 inch) plank has real substance, with a clean square edge and no bevel for a smooth, continuous surface. Cork is harvested from the bark of the cork oak, a tree that can live up to 200 years and be peeled around 20 times, so the material renews itself without felling a single tree. That bark's air-filled cell structure is what makes this floor behave so differently from hardwood or laminate: it insulates against heat loss, absorbs sound instead of reflecting it, and stays permanently elastic, so it feels comfortable under bare feet even in a Canadian winter. The Uniclic click-lock profile means installation is a glue-free floating job over above grade, on grade, or below grade subfloors, and the same plank is rated for walls as well as floors. With domestic class 23 and commercial class 33 ratings plus AC5 abrasion resistance, Seaside is at home anywhere from a family room to a busy storefront, and it is compatible with electric, hydronic, and underfloor radiant heating systems. Why this floor
- 18 dB impact sound reduction (EN ISO 717-2): cork's air-like cell structure absorbs footfall noise instead of transmitting it to the room below.
- Rated commercial class 33 and domestic class 23 (EN 16511) with AC5 abrasion resistance: durability specified for heavy-duty settings, backed by a 15-year residential and 5-year commercial warranty.
- Genuine 3mm natural cork top layer over a 6.8mm E1 grade moisture-resistant HDF core and 1.2mm agglomerated cork backing: 11mm of total build for a solid, quiet walk.
- Uniclic click-lock joint with tested locking strength above 500 kg per linear metre (ISO 24334): planks float without glue and stay tight.
- Thermal resistance of 0.108 m² K/W (EN 12524): the surface stays temperate year round, so no cold feet in winter.
- Low swelling of under 8% in a 24-hour water test (EN 317) and dimensional stability under 0.05%: the moisture-resistant core shrugs off everyday spills and seasonal humidity swings.
- Clean-air credentials: Green Guard Gold certified, with emissions in conformity with AgBB, and antimicrobial by nature, making it a safe choice around kids.
