Solara Cork Glue-Down Flooring

Solid cork from top to bottom: a 6 mm homogeneous tile you seal on site, sand years later, and keep for decades.

Solara is a true massive cork tile. The pattern and colour run through the full 6 mm (1/4 in) thickness, so what you see on the surface is what the tile is made of all the way down. There is no HDF core, no veneer, and no printed layer: only 100% natural cork, pressed into a clean 305 mm x 305 mm (12 in x 12 in) square with a straight-cut, square edge and no bevel.

Because the tile is solid cork throughout, it behaves differently from surface-finished floors. When the wear layer eventually shows its age, you sand it and refinish it instead of replacing it. That refinishable construction extends the life of the floor far beyond products that carry their looks only on the top millimetre.

Underfoot, cork's elastic cellular structure gives built-in cushioning that reduces fatigue and joint strain, absorbs impact noise, and keeps the surface warm in winter and cool in summer. Suberin, the waxy substance in cork cells, naturally resists mould, mildew, and allergens, and the material does not off-gas harmful chemicals.

Solara ships unfinished. After glue-down installation with Wakol D3540 adhesive, you seal it with three coats of Loba 2K Supra A.T. Properly installed and sealed, the floor is waterproof and suitable for bathrooms, kitchens, and other moisture-prone residential areas, and it is rated for light commercial spaces as well as homes.

Important product note

Solara is an unfinished, site-finished floor, not a prefinished one. Unlike floors with an HDF core, veneer, or printed layer, this tile is pure cork from top to bottom, and it must be sealed with three coats of Loba 2K Supra A.T. after installation to achieve its durability and moisture protection. Plan for the adhesive and finish before installation day, and add the recommended 5% overage when ordering.
