Umber Cork Glue-Down Flooring

A Swiss-made 6 mm glue-down cork tile in a deep umber brown: AC5 abrasion rated, 18 dB quieter underfoot, and slim enough to run over hydronic in-floor heat.

Umber takes its name from its colour: a rich, earthy brown drawn from a natural cork veneer, finished in a high resistance matte coat that keeps the surface looking like cork rather than plastic. Square edges with no bevel and a straight cut let the 600 mm x 300 mm (23 5/8 in x 11-13/16 in) tiles lay up in a clean brick or stack pattern with tight seams.

The construction is cork through and through: a 0.7 mm to 0.8 mm natural cork veneer over a cork core and cork backing, sealed under a HotCoating wear layer. At just 6 mm (1/4 in) total, it glues direct to the subfloor, so there is no hollow sound and no height problem at doorways or transitions.

Underfoot it does what cork does best. Millions of air cells make the surface warm, resilient, and low slip, which is easy on knees, hips, and joints, and a real comfort for seniors, children, or anyone with arthritis. The same structure blocks 18 dB of impact sound from travelling to the room below and keeps heat in the room in winter and out in summer.

Rated for domestic and commercial use, on grade and above grade, this tile is at home in kitchens, hallways, offices, and retail spaces, and it can be installed on walls as well as floors.

Why this floor

• 18 dB impact sound reduction (EN ISO 717-2): noticeably quieter for the room below.
• AC5 abrasion resistance (EN 14354 and EN 13329) under a HotCoating wear layer: a commercial-grade surface rating.
• 0% swelling after 24 hours of water exposure (EN 317), with very good chemical resistance (EN 423).
• Rated domestic class 23 and commercial class 32, and suitable for type W castor chairs (EN 425).
• No VOC emissions and made with formaldehyde-free adhesives, backed by a DIBT cork certificate.
• Thermal resistance of 0.080 m² K/W and compatible with hydronic and underfloor heating.
• Naturally anti-microbial and hypo-allergenic: resists insects, mould, and mildew, and repels dust and hair.

Important product note

As this is a glue-down product, polyurethane is required after installation: plan for enough Loba 2K to apply two full coats over the finished floor.
