Desert Arable Cork Flooring
Rippled amber, honey and butter tones that mimic sand dunes at dusk: one of the only cork floors patterned after sand instead of wood. Most floors try to look like wood. Desert Arable does not. Its light, rippled patterning of amber, honey and butter is set to mimic sand dunes at dusk, with long delicate strands of multi-coloured cork winding their way through each plank. Every plank is unique, subtle yet strong in character, and once assembled the floor reads as one smooth, continuous, sinuous pattern with no "chunks" of cork breaking the flow. Under that finish sits a 10 mm (25/64 in) floating plank: a 3 mm natural cork top layer over a 6 mm E1 class high density fibreboard core, with a 1 mm cork underlay already attached. Planks measure 900 mm x 300 mm (35 7/16 in x 11 13/16 in) and click together with the industry-leading Uniclic profile, so there is no glue and no nails. Cork's cellular structure makes this floor warm and comfortable underfoot, insulating against both acoustical vibrations and thermal fluctuations. It keeps unwanted heat energy out in summer and holds warmth in the room in winter, which can save you money on heating and cooling. The resilient, low-slip surface is an excellent choice for seniors, children, or anyone dealing with arthritis or joint pain, and it is rated for above, on, and below grade installs, so basements are fair game.Why this floor

Kate Falloon –
We definitely do this again and may do cork floor throughout the remaining bedrooms when we had enough of money. Do use cork underlay! We didn’t at first and should have right away. We found no need for the additional poly coats in the bedrooms, but you will need apply the poly in the kitchen and hallway.

I have an uneven concrete floor. I had problems getting the concrete floor absolutely level. Once that was okay, the installation was easy. We love our new natural cork floor with comfort of a cushioned surface.

A perfect product for basement. My basement is 750 SF. I installed it about 8 months ago by myself. Nice and warm under foot in the basement. Floating floor is over a vapor barrier. We have two dogs play hard over the surface and we can’t tell any marks now. Would definitely do this again and may do cork throughout the remaining bedrooms when we had enough of money. Do use footpads! The additional poly coats help.

Installed this cork floor four years ago in our kitchen. This year bought more to replace our basement carpet. VERY happy with the quality and price of this cork flooring. The mildew and musty carpet smells gone after installed this cork floor. We added 2 coats of polyurethane to make it more durable and waterproof because we own a large bulldog. Floors are as nice as they were when first installed. Installation is very easy. Highly recommend!
