Bleached Birch Cork Glue-Down Flooring
A muted off-white cork tile, flecked with grey and the faintest lavender, that brings beach-cottage calm to floors and walls. If you love the natural pattern of birch bark, Bleached Birch was made for you. The surface reads as a soft, subtle off-white, specked with shades of grey and a hint of lavender, so the floor feels light and airy without looking sterile. It suits any room where you want a natural, relaxed, beach-cottage look. Each tile is 305 mm x 610 mm x 6 mm (12 in x 24 in x 1/4 in) of solid cork, cut square-edged with no bevel. Laid tight in a glue-down installation, the tiles read as one large, seamless finished surface rather than a grid of planks. The colour is a stained cork produced in Portugal, protected by a high resistance super-matte wax finish. Because the tile is 100 percent low-density, sound-absorbing cork through its full thickness, no separate underlayment is required. That same cell structure is what makes cork warm and comfortable underfoot: a resilient, low-slip surface that is kind to seniors, children, and anyone with arthritis or joint pain, while helping keep heat in the room in winter and out in summer. Install it over a clean, level subfloor at or above grade and it is rated for far more than a quiet hallway: it carries a Commercial class 32 durability rating, and the cork's natural suberin content makes the material impermeable to liquids, which is why these tiles are considered ideal for bathrooms and commercial areas. Why this floor
- Impact sound reduction of 18 dB: keeps noise from transmitting down through the floor or up through the ceiling below.
- Rated Commercial class 32 and Domestic class 23, so it stands up to light commercial traffic as well as busy homes.
- Solid 6 mm (1/4 in) cork through the full thickness: the tile is its own sound and thermal insulation, so no separate underlayment is needed.
- Natural suberin (the waxy substance in cork) makes the material impermeable to liquids and gas, reducing the risk of mould growth, wood rot, and insects.
- No VOC emissions and made with formaldehyde-free adhesives; naturally anti-static, hypoallergenic, and dust-repelling, a beneficial alternative to carpet for asthma and allergy sufferers.
- Compatible with hydronic and underfloor radiant heating.
- Backed by a 10-year residential wear warranty, joint integrity warranty, and lifetime structural warranty.
